General

The purchase and use of a SOLID GRAY backpack (hereinafter to be called SG-backpack) is covered by the General Conditions governing the Sale and Delivery of Products to consumers, July 2014 edition, as drawn up by the Dutch Designers Association (BNO), (hereinafter to be called GC_CON_06_2014) for private consumers. The purchase and use of SG-backpack for any corporate purposes, including but not limited to retail, is not covered by GC_CON_06_2014, but is covered instead by the General Conditions governing the Sale and Delivery of Products to business customers, July 2014 edition, (hereinafter to be called GC_B2B_06_2014). In addition, purchase and usage of SG-backpack is covered by the terms and conditions, as well as the instructions on this page (hereinafter to be called TC_SG_01_2018). If any of the terms or conditions of TC_SG_01_2018 are in conflict with GC_CON_06_2014 or GC_B2B_06_2014, the terms and conditions of TC_SG_01_2018 will prevail. On pur-chase, the customer agrees to having read GC_CON_06_2014 or GC_B2B_06_2014, (whichever is applicable) and understands that these are part of the terms and condi-tions that apply to the purchase of SG-backpack. SOLID GRAY will not use personal information for any other purpose than the transaction at hand, nor will we provide or sell any personal information to any other party. SOLID GRAY®, the SOLID GRAY logo, and the SOLID GRAY backpack design are registered trademarks of LIJMBACH, LEEUW & VORMGEVING V.O.F. located in The Netherlands, registered under VAT no. NL004055128B74 and Chamber of commerce no. 85080004. The SOLID GRAY logo and names of SOLID GRAY products or services displayed on this site are protected by EU and international trademark and copyright laws. Other third party trademarks referenced on this site are the property of their respective owners. No license to use any of LIJMBACH, LEEUW & VORMGEVING V.O.F. is given or implied. Users are not permit-ted to use these trademarks without the prior written consent of LIJMBACH, LEEUW & VORMGEVING V.O.F. The use of these trademarks or any other materials, except as permitted herein, is expressly prohibited and may be in violation of applicable laws. In the event you see or become aware of any unauthorized or improper use of SOLID GRAY trademarks, or if you want additional trademark information, please contact us.

Warranty

SOLID GRAY produces quality products, that come with one years full warranty for any manufacturing defects. Please note that our material is an industrial plastic and even though each backpack is carefully assembled by hand, some minor scratches created during the various production steps are inevitable. In the event of any manufacturing defect, SOLID GRAY may choose to either: provide you with an identical product, refurbish your current product, or give you a full refund including the original shipping costs. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, defects caused by improper usage, modifications made by the user of force majeure. SOLID GRAY offers a one time courtesy replacement discount (“Crash Service” for short) to the tune of 50% of the original purchase sum for any SOLID GRAY product that got damaged, outside of warranty coverage. Crash Service is at SOLID GRAYs discretion and SOLID GRAY reserves the right to refuse Crash Service based on lack of evidence, suspicions of fraud or any other reason. Any product obtained through Crash Service has the same warranty conditions as the original product, except that the warranty period is limited to the warranty period granted on the original purchased product. Crash Service does not grant any additional rights, and SOLID GRAY does not accept responsibility for the damage to the original product by accepting a request for Crash Service. SOLID GRAY is in no way responsible for direct, special, incidental or consequential damages resulting from any breach of warranty or condition, or under any other legal theory, including any costs of replacing a device enclosed in its products or any other personal property or costs of recovering or reproducing any program or data stored in a device used with or carried in its products. Warranty coverage ends if the purchaser sells or transfers the product. Claims should be presented at the point of initial purchase with proper documentation to validate any claims.

Shipping and return policy

SOLID GRAY is not responsible for VAT or any other charges for any countries outside the EU. Your government may charge you with import tax, VAT or other taxes that may apply. For orders with shipping insurance we will do whatever is needed to recover or replace an order if it is lost or damaged during transit. However, we ask you to notify us as soon as possible if your order does not arrive in good order. Do not discard any part of the packaging, shipping label or damaged contents. We may need pictures of it, and it may be necessary to file a complaint at the local postal service in order for us to handle the insurance process. You can return your purchased product for a refund for any reason. The refund sum consists of the total product price plus the shipping sum for the most economic available shipping method to your location, regardless of the actual shipping method chosen. We do not refund additional costs for express shipping nor do we refund the return shipping costs. A refund shall never exceed the original order total including shipping. A refund must be requested within 14 days after receiving the product. Returned product must be unused, undamaged, in its original packaging and identical (including color) to your original order. Customized orders (like prints or engravings) cannot be returned for a refund. If you wish to apply for a refund, please contact us by email. Do not ship your product back to us before receiving an email confirmation and shipping instructions. You are responsible for return shipping, and are obligated to purchase a registered mail service including tracking.

Backpack & Straps

Safety

SOLID GRAY backpack and its accessories (“SG-backpack” for short), is only to be used as a backpack. It is not meant to be used for any other purpose. SG-backpack must not be used as a personal protection device. SG-backpack is not to be used to transport people or animals. SG-backpack is not safe to be used by children under 12 years old. Do not let children under 12 unattended with your SG-backpack. SG-backpack’s manufacturers are in no way responsible for damage to material possessions nor personal harm caused by SG-backpack in any way. Be careful not to hurt people around you and behind you when wearing SG-backpack. Using SG-backpack during sport activities and/or swimming is not recommended, and could cause serious harm to the user. SG-backpack has several features that are designed to protect items carried in it up to a certain extent. However, SG-backpacks manufacturers and designers are in no way responsible for any damage to items carried inside the backpack. SG-backpack may break or tear in case of a severe drop or accident, this is not considered normal use and may void your warranty. Do not drop or throw SG-backpack, do not sit on it, or put force on it in any other way. Do not attempt to close the lid when SG-backpack is overloaded, as this may dislodge the lid. Please make sure that no items stick out of the compartment when closing the backpack. The clip inside the lid can be used for light items like paper and cardboard. Do not use it for items over 7 mm in thickness as you may damage the clip or the lid. Do not expose SG-backpack to heat or open fire. Do not expose SG-backpack to extended periods of sub-zero temperatures.

Usage

You can attach the straps as indicated in the manual that came with them, or click here for the instruction video. If your backpack did not come with a manual, please send us an email, and we will gladly send you a copy. The locks on the lid can be unlocked by flipping them so that they point towards the top side of the backpack. They are closed by toggling them to their reversed position. The inside compartments are accessible by opening the lid. Note that the bottom compartment is closed off by the top compartment once the lid is closed. Your items will be safely stored in the lower compartment, but make sure that no items stick out of this compartment when closing the backpack, as you may dislodge the lid. The laptop strap can be adjusted by pulling the remainder of the strap. The shoulder straps can be tightened by pulling the remainder of the strap and released by pulling the buckle in an upward direction. The clip inside the lid can be used for light items like paper and cardboard. Do not use it for items over 7 mm in thickness as you may damage the clip or the lid.

Maintenance

Like all polymer materials, polypropene will deteriorate faster under the influence of sunlight and other sources of UV radiation. Do not leave SG-backpack exposed to sunlight for prolonged periods of time. Do not expose SG-backpack to moisture and/or humidity for prolonged periods of time. Keep your SG-backpack clean using a mild detergent and non-abrasive pad or cloth. Sand and dirt are abrasive, and may scar the surface of your SG-backpack, given time. The straps may get dirty over time, this does not diminish the quality of the straps. A wash every now and again will help to keep your straps looking like new. In order to wash the straps, first detach them from the backpack as shown in the manual. Hand wash only using water of up to 30 degrees Celsius, a mild detergent, and a soft brush or sponge.

Back Padding

Safety

SOLID GRAY Back Padding (“SG-backpadding” for short) is only to be used as back padding for your SOLID GRAY backpack (“SG-backpack” for short). It is not meant to be used for any other purpose. SG-backpadding is not intended as a personal protection device. SG-backpadding is not safe to be used by children under 12 years old. Do not let children under 12 unattended with your SG-backpadding. SOLID GRAY is in no way responsible for damage caused to clothing, surfaces, material possessions nor personal harm caused by SG-backpadding. in any way. SG-backpadding may rip or tear in case of a severe drop or accident, this is not considered normal use and may void your warranty. Do not expose SG-backpadding to heat, open fire or excessive moisture. Do not expose SG-backpadding to extended periods of sub-zero temperatures.

Usage

You can attach the SG-backpadding as discribed in the instruction manual that came with them, or click here for the instruction video. If your SG-backpadding did not come with a manual, please send us an email, and we will gladly send you a copy. Please read the instruction manual carfeully before applying the padding, as the adhesive used to attach SG-backpadding to your SG backpack adheres far less once it has been attached and removed once.

Maintenance

Like most plastics, EPDM foam will deteriorate faster under the influence of sunlight and other sources of UV radiation. Do not leave SG-backpadding exposed to sunlight for prolonged periods of time. Do not expose SG-backpadding to moisture and/or humidity for prolonged periods of time. Sand and dirt are abrasive, and may scar the surface and edges of your SG-backpadding, given time. SG-backpadding may get dirty over time, this does not diminish the quality of the padding.

Rain cover

Safety

SOLID GRAY raincover, (“SG-raincover” for short), is only to be used as a cover for your SOLID GRAY backpack (“SG-backpack” for short). It is not meant to be used for any other purpose. SG-backpack is not safe to be used by children under 12 years old. Do not let children under 12 unattended with your SG-raincover. Using SG-raincover during sport activities and/or swimming is not recommended, and could cause serious harm to the user. SG-raincover is designed to cover your SG-backpack, and by doing so to protect your SG-backpack, and any items carried in it from damage by rain water up to a certain extent. However, SG-backpacks manufacturers and designers are in no way responsible for any damage to the SG-backpack nor items carried inside the backpack. SG-raincovers manufacturers are in no way responsible for damage to material possessions nor personal harm caused by SG-raincover in any way. SG-caincover may break or tear in case of a fall or accident, this is not considered normal use and may void your warranty. Do not put force on SG-raincover in any other way.

Usage

You can position the SG-raincover over your SG-backpack, and keep it in place pulling the cord and moving the slider. To remove the SG-raincover, move the slider away form the SG raincover, and release the cord. Do not use excessive force to remove SG-raincover from SG-backpack. To keep your SG-raincover looking great, make sure to thoroughly dry SG-raincover before returning it to the storage pouch, and hand wash every now and again using cold water without soap.

Maintenance

Like most plastics, Nylon and PU will deteriorate faster under the influence of sunlight and other sources of UV radiation. Do not leave SG-raincover exposed to sunlight for prolonged periods of time. Do not expose SG-backpack to moisture and/or humidity for prolonged periods of time. Do not store SG-raincover while wet. Wash your SG-raincover carefully by hand using water of up to 30 degrees Celsius, no detergent, and a soft brush or sponge if needed.

Wall Mount

Safety

SOLID GRAY Wall Mount (“SG-Mount” for short), is only to be used as a mount to hold a SOLID GRAY backpack on a flat vertical wall or surface. It is not meant to be used for any other purpose. SG-Mount is not safe to be used by children under 12 years old. Do not let children under 12 unattended with your SG-Mount. SG-Mount’s manufacturers are in no way responsible for damage to material possessions nor personal harm caused by SG-Mount in any way. SG-Mount allows you to mount your backpack upright both empty or full, though it is your responsibility to make sure it does not fall as a result of improper placement, uneven distribution of weight or any other causes. SG-Stand’s manufacturers and designers are in no way responsible for any damage to your backpack, any items stored inside the backpack, any surfaces SG-Mount is attached to nor for any damage created drilling or attaching SG-Mount to your wall. Do not expose SG-Mount to heat or open fire or to extended periods of sub-zero temperatures.

Assembly

You can assemble and place your SG-Mount as indicated in the manual that came with it. If your SG-Stand did not come with a manual, please send us an email, and we will gladly send you a copy. Read the instructions manual carefully before assembling SG-Mount. Take special care, as the bottom section can be folded only once before the material may break. Keep the side with the black folding lines facing upwards, and only fold upwards. Take special care when drilling holes to attach your SG-Mount to the wall. Select the right drill bits as instructed in the manual. The top and bottom sections require different drill sizes, based on the material of your wall. Take care not to damage your wall, and check whether there are power mains, water mains, gas mains or other obstructions in the wall before drilling. SG-Mount comes with special plugs that allow it to be attached to surfaces like masonry and concrete, but also to hollow surfaces like dry wall. It is your responsibility to judge whether the material of your wall is sufficiently strong to hold SG-Mount and your backpack.

Usage

Be careful not to overload your backpack while mounted, especially when SG-Mount is attached to a dry wall surface. When mounting your backpack, fit the feet of your backpack into the holes that are in SG-Mount’s bottom section. Carefully position your backpack on SG-Mount’s bottom section and gently push it backwards untill SG-Mount’s top section grabs your backpack’s handle, and you are confident the backpack is mounted firmly.

Maintenance

Do not leave SG-Mount exposed to sunlight for prolonged periods of time. Do not ex-pose SG-Mount to moisture and/or humidity for prolonged periods of time. Keep your SG-Mount clean using a mild detergent and non-abrasive pad or cloth.

Backpack Stand

SOLID GRAY Backpack Stand (“SG-Stand” for short), is only to be used as a stand to hold a SOLID GRAY backpack. It is not meant to be used for any other purpose. SG-Stand is not safe to be used by children under 12 years old. Do not let children under 12 unattended with your SG-Stand. SG-Stand’s manufacturers are in no way responsible for damage to material possessions nor personal harm caused by SG-Stand in any way. SG-Stand allows you to stand your backpack upright both empty or full, though it is your responsibility to make sure it does not fall as a result of improper placement, uneven distribution of weight or any other causes. SG-Stand’s feet may scratch the surface it is placed on, and sand may get stuck in them. SG-Stand’s manufacturers and designers are in no way responsible for any damage to your backpack, any items stored inside the backpack, or any surfaces SG-Stand is placed on. Do not expose SG-Stand to heat or open fire or to extended periods of sub-zero temperatures.

SG-Stand features two openings that fit the feet of your backpack. Carefully position your backpack on the SG-Stand, and hold it untill the feet fit into the openings, and you are confident your backpack is standing firmly.
